About Mumbai AIDS Sunday
Mumbai AIDS Sunday takes place the Sunday after Dec. 1st – which is World AIDS Day.
Globally, an estimated 33.4 million (31 million – 36 million) people are living with HIV at the end of 2008. The world over, 12,000 people get infected each day.
To show our common resolve and to help to focus the people of God to live out the love of Christ to people with HIV, the CORINTH network challenges the body of Christ in Greater Mumbai to observe “Mumbai AIDS Sunday” on the 5th of December 2010.
We know that if God’s people come together and pray – and act – anything can happen!
The CORINTH network urges all followers of Christ to participate in two practical ways:
1. We encourage all fellowships and congregations across the greater Mumbai area to have a special AIDS Focus as part of their Sunday morning worship on the 5th of December 10. This can mean adapting the entire service to reflect God’s heart of love to people with HIV – or incorporating at least a time of prayer. We have prepared a set of Church AIDS Equipping Resources to help you with this.
2. We urge local churches to come together for a special time of Prayer and Praise from 6.30-9 PM on the evening of December 5th. We are organising a special all-churches meeting at the Marthoma Church Mulund (opp Fortis Hospital).
We would be thrilled if other ‘concert of prayer’ style prayer meetings were held in other place too. These times of intercession offer a tremendous opportunity for God’s people to cry out unitedly to our loving Father on behalf of our land and of the many who are affected by this disease.
Please contact us immediately for the Church AIDS Equipping Resources and for information on your local Area AIDS Prayer Meeting.
